CGI:IRC is a Perl/CGI program that allows access to IRC from a web browser. It is designed to be flexible and has many uses such as an IRC gateway for an IRC network, a chat-room for a website or to access IRC when stuck behind a restrictive firewall.

CGI:IRC will work in most browsers, including Links. However, to enjoy most of the features a newer version is essential; older browsers will work, but CGI:IRC will use a single windowed interface instead and the names list will not update as quickly.

CGI:IRC is used by many IRC networks to provide a way for users to chat on their network from within their web browser. When used in this way, most of the functions are disabled for security reasons, i.e. the user is unable to connect to a different server, sometimes the channels that the user may join are restricted. Due to the nature of CGI:IRC, users are unable to use DCC.

What was a seemingly inconsequential implementation of the IRC protocol is increasingly being seen as a means to evade unjust bans in IRC chat rooms. Several IRC servers have, as a consequence, developed an intolerance for CGI connections. Compounding this development is the fact that there does not exist a means to effectively distinguish between a CGI connection and a real IRC connection.

Some IRC servers may display the true hostname of the connecting client, most will only show the hostname of the CGI:IRC proxy. However, this does not offer much in the way of privacy, since the IP address of the user is hex encoded and included in the ident and/or real name. A simple perl script to decode the IP is included with CGI:IRC. Depending on how CGI:IRC is configured, it may also return the users true IP address (in addition to the HTTP headers) in response to a CTCP USERINFO request.

Zelune Proxy Script

Zelune is a Free Proxy Script, much like PHProxy and CGI-Proxy. Zelune aims of setting global stands for all the web proxies. It is also a free to use proxy site script which will allow your site users to hide their identity, safely and securely, while browsing any site. Similar to other proxies, it also helps to bypass firewalls set up on a school or work network. Zelune uses cURL, which is faster than what PHProxy and CGI-Proxy use - and I have heard, Zelune is the world’s fastest proxy script, but its not as there is the new script out named Glype which is faster, don’t worry about it I will give a review of that as well in the next post.

They are also light to webhost server resources and bandwidth use. You can check various free templates and demo on their homepage, and here as well, as I’m going to release some free templates of all proxy scripts available soon these days. They are also working on for lots of improvements and new plugins, admin controls, adsense features etc. - all free for members

OpenSSH for Windows

OpenSSH for Windows

OpenSSH for Windows is a free package that installs a minimal OpenSSH server and client utilities in the Cygwin package without needing the full Cygwin installation.

The OpenSSH for Windows package provides full SSH/SCP/SFTP support. SSH terminal support provides a familiar Windows Command prompt, while retaining Unix/Cygwin-style paths for SCP and SFTP.

MyEnTunnel (Windows / Freeware)

MyEnTunnel is a simple system tray application (or NT service) that establishes and maintains TCP SSH tunnels. It does this by launching Plink (PuTTY Link) in the background and then monitors the process. If the Plink process dies (e.g. connection drops, server restarts or otherwise becomes unreachable) MyEnTunnel will automatically restart Plink to reestablish the tunnels in the background. It tries to use as little CPU and system resources as possible when monitoring (When the "Slow Polling" option is enabled it only does one context switch per second).

Since it uses Plink, you can use utilities such as Pageant (a SSH authentication agent for PuTTY, PSCP and Plink) and PuTTYgen (a RSA and DSA key generation utility), as well as named PuTTY sessions. All of the networking and encryption is done by plink.exe; not by MyEnTunnel. MyEnTunnel also works with portaPuTTY (Handy for USB thumbdrives).
